Diseases and Environment; There is a link?

In this article i was reading by larry west, he says that according to a report by the World Health Organization (WHO) nearly a quarter of all diseases are linked to the environment. the four main diseases would be; diarrhea, lower respiratory infection, unintentional injuries, and malaria. what do you think the factors would be to get these diseases? where do you think they would most commonly occur? in the article, they mention preventative measures that all seem obvious to us, but what other measures do you think we could take to prevent diseases from our environment? according to the article, if these steps were taken the amount of deaths every year linking to diseases caused by the environment would be drastically reduced.

  1. This is a great way to start off the blog, Ada, since it provides a connection between the two topics that we are covering. I think that the term "unintentional injuries" is referring to accidents that could have been easily avoided due to a lack of safety precautions taken, and stricter regulations for safety could help prevent these. I'm not sure that I would refer to these problems as "diseases" myself, but it is still important to address them as problems.

The diseases that are caused by unsafe water can be combated by supporting organisations that work to give communities around the world access to safe water, and by governments implementing/enforcing laws against pollution water.

    1. Great comment morgan! yes, i suppose i reasoned unintentional injuries meant open wounds getting infected and affecting your body. though, with my limited medical knowledge, how should i know?
and the suggestion you made with more access to clean water around the world was brilliant. just brilliant.
